Where do I begin?

Hi there - I'm working on a platform - www.powow.ca with a couple of co-founders. We are all working on this part-time.

The real motivation is to help brick and mortar services convert to online/ e-service providers. Powow does the heavy lifting and helps pros with tools to start/run or move brick and mortar operation online without having to manage the technological or operations overhead. We have tools to support scheduling, video conferencing, and payments(via stripe, more to come).

In the near future, we plan to support accounting, lead generation, marketing tools.

I'm looking for ideas on how to

  • Improve the current offering
  • Find initial customers
  • You take on the idea

Thanks a lot - Nipun

I previously worked on an idea for the same Industry.

My approach was to do stuff that doesn't scale -

    • Personally visited store owners and got them on board.
    • You will store owners' phone number from Google maps. Call them and pitch the idea.

Thanks! Can you give me some pointers on your experience? What worked well and what did not? What would you do differently?

        • We would have targeted a niche and a small area instead of going after a bigger community

        • Build products only after talking to users.

        • Have a clear cut differentiation.

Thanks, why not the big community ? What was the challenge there?

            Difficult to get critical mass

Email marketing is always a good start. Build up good SEA so people can find you website too.
