Hey Bootstrappers.
I'm interested in where you go to get work done. I'm currently working from my home office but there are so many distractions here (you'd be surprised how many times I've done the washing up instead of building a feature). I've been thinking about trying a co-working space to give me the feeling that I'm going to "the office" and kickstart my work mode.
Another thing I'm wondering is at what point do bootstrapped founders rent office space? We're not earning enough from PriceWell to rent an office just yet but it's good to plan for the future :)
I posted a quick poll on Twitter and I'd love your input.
I can focus best when I am working from home
Same, I work from home now where it is quiet and relaxed. The only problem is I have no seperation between home and work - so it's not ideal. I long for a home office, or to have an office somewhere of my own I can go to to separate my life from my work. Do you ever get tired of working from home the way I do? It's just....not as exciting as I remember it?
Same, but I still prefer working from home over commuting to office. I am trying to better seperate out work and home life this year :D
Agree, it's so much better than commuting (what a waste of time that was). I can also spend more time with my child at home too, but that leads to being a bit less productive I've found. Maybe the balance is not so bad.
Yea, a balance would be great. What do you miss most about working from office? @webinsider @Matthew_reid?
It's a place of focus. There are no other distractions around. I have a family so they are a constant distraction but it's also good to spend more time with them at home. I would never want to go back to an office 5 days a week though (actually I never want to work 5 days a week again)
4 day work-week - 🙌
Before covid, I used to hang out in coffee shops a lot. Only work from home now :)
Do you think it affects your productivity or mood at all? I find myself having waves of productivity at home that's hard to control.
Hey @matthew_reid a mix of locations keeps me productive, and it depends on the tasks.
Sometimes if I have shit I don’t want to do, I’ll take myself to my local coffeeshop and have a nice coffee, put some music on and give myself permission to stay there till it’s done.
Most days, I’m at home but I think as we all know that founders can often be lonely so I think it’s important to ensure you’re enjoying this. I also have a couple of friends that have offices that I use sometimes to mix it up.

Nice, that sounds like a great mix to get maximum productivity!
I work from home
Along with almost 80% of the respondents! Are you happy working from home?
I am indeed :)
