Where is the best place to learn about the role of Business Development Representatives (BDR) and Account Executives?

I'm a design and product person, but I'd like to learn about sales and what the standard sales roles do on a day-to-day basis. Any helpful advice, or links to good articles on the topic, would be awesome 🙌.

I know a lot of us dislike cold outreach from BDR's and AE's, but if it didn't work they wouldn't have a job, so there must be something to it!
