Where to find UX/UI consultant?
Hey,
I'm working on mymyriad.ai at the moment... we're all mostly backend developers so our frontend so far is really just what we've been able to pull together using Bootstrap and startbootstrap dot com.
At this point, I'd like to hire a designer to essentially consult on our UX. I'm not really sure how this works though... I'm thinking I need somebody to spend some time using the product as-is, then deliver a handful of wireframes containing their suggestions.

I'd second Dribbble if you can find something there. However, we have had good success with Upwork and it doesn't break the bank.

The best way to get a designer!
I know it may not be too cheap, but you might consider hiring a UI/UX agency for a few hours.
Such agencies have had dozens and hundreds of projects behind them. If you want to bet on quality, I think it will be the right way.
I think that's a good tip. In the beginning, a short UI/UX review with some suggested improvements will be very helpful. It shouldn't cost that much.

To be honest I'm a bit biased. I run my own digital product agency.
May I suggest something in between before you go all-in on an agency. If you want to I can screen record a think-aloud session. This means I walk through your product and you'll see my first reactions including some advice on improvements.
It'll give you a hint about the most important things.

Nothing too specific. I feel the whole UI/UX is decent enough but it lacks something and I'm not sure what. It's obvious to me that it wasn't put together by a professional designer.
I'd also like to know how clear and easy it is for a first-time user how to navigate and use the site.
Can you see it adding value in your day-to-day? Are there any features that are confusing? Any features that are missing?
I think you might be right on this... any recommendations for a good agency that won't break the bank?
