Where to go for feedback on website copy?
I've been working on the landing page for HTTP Toolkit for a while.
I've had some great feedback on the design from all sorts of places, from https://www.reddit.com/r/design_critiques (which I'd highly recommend!) to IH to web developer forums, and from potential customers themselves, and after a couple of iterations I'm pretty happy with the design as it is now.
I think the copy is weak in places though, and writing copy is certainly not my strong suit.
How do you get feedback on your copy? Are there any communities you typically reach out to, or places where people congregate to discuss & critique copy, in the way people do with design?
For https://www.botletter.com I use Hotjar to ask different questions directly to the visitors:
-How would you summarize Botletter's value proposition to a colleague? (to check if your value proposition is clear enough)
-What information is missing on this page?
-What brings you here? (to understand the painpoint of your potential users and use it in your messaging)
You can use Hojar's polls for that and the free plan is enough generous to get pretty good results.
Great idea. Do you get plenty of feedback using hotjar polls? Can you share some numbers (like how many feedbacks you get out of X visitors)?
I don't have the answer rate but I recently run a poll on my pricing page for 2 weeks and got ≈250 answers.
Hey Tim, we've launched our product https://testhq.com/ into beta recently.
For copy critique, you could create a split test and send it out to people in your network to get feedback.
For example; you could have a screenshot of your hero section w/ differing copy & gather feedback on which people prefer.

For the record, I've had amazing feedback on https://www.reddit.com/r/design_critiques as well. In fact, the main look of www.saashub.com was recommended by a guy there.
