Which blogging platform do you use?
Which blogging platform do you use to write your blog posts with your custom domain?
We would like to start a blog for our app with URL like blog.myapp. com but do not want to deploy any blogging software on my hosting. Would like to use some existing apps like wordpress, substack etc with my domain and link to it from my landing page.

WordPress is still the gold standard when it comes to content management. Free, open source, customizable, and timeless.
With that said, if you want a more turnkey solution, there's Ghost, Blogstatic, and Superblog (among others) that should do the trick.
You can even put your blog on a subfolder (myapp.com/blog) rather than a subdomain (blog.myapp.com) if you want.

Yep, it's typically better to put your blog under a subfolder rather than a subdomain, because it builds authority for your primary domain. If you have myapp.com and blog.myapp.com, they're treated as separate domains, and thus result in their domain authority (DA) built separately.

Anyhow, I'm searching for a non self hosted solution as well for a personal app, but haven't found anything good...

I'm currently writing my first blog post. For the time being I'll write on Medium, simply because it's easy to get started. Though when I find some time for it, I'll create a new personal website where I plan to cross post all my articles.

I think wordpress is a standard because of variaty of plugins like automatic SEO optimization. Besides, you own your content. There are some self hosting or managed hosting solutions.
But it can be an overkill for simple stuff. There is SQL behind the scenes, the page load times can take a lot of time etc.
For starters I will probably just attach static blog webpages to my website. Since most frameworks load pages dynamically, it won't affect the speed of the website.
On my private blog I just write markdown, starting with index.md, then commit to GitHub. I like minimalist solutions and I’m a technologist so this was a natural choice for me. GitHub will automatically convert the markdown files to HTML with a bare bones template. You can use a custom domain and they’ll generate the certificates automatically. All you have to do is
git pushand then point your domain to GitHub.Medium but the traffic hasn't been great. One of my stories got picked up by some promotion thing and suddenly views went from 10s to over a 1000 so idk what is going on there.
Now I am starting blogging on the WordPress platform. It is a very interesting and outstanding platform for bloggers. I recently published my new website

To write blog posts on my own domain I'm currently using Hashnode.
i use hugo static site generator to generate my blog. Write my content in markdown and org. Use github to manage everything in one place and versioned. Cloudflare pages to host for free. It would look like this (its my personal blog) but you can choose different theme newbeelearn.com
I got so fed up with WordPress that I made my own platform 😂 It's only for travel blogs though.
I accidentally deleted my earlier comment.. but Beehiiv is working very well for me. it has a good UI already in my opinion. if you want to just write right away without having to setup your UI pages I would choose beehiiv. It has a free plan but to use your own like www.yourwebsitename.com would require the paid plan. Here’s my newsletter for a sample: diggerinsights.beehiiv.com
you can choose color, font, sizes etc… very easy to use. There are a lot of companies that grew their newsletter/blog 100k-200k subscribers with this.

Wordpress is best for the beginners. It's really easy to use and free of cost
You could use Wordpress.com and map it to a subdomain (blog.yourapp.com) but the normal free WordPress is self-installed so you'll need hosting.
There are some nice no-code blogging apps e.g. https://feather.so that handle hosting and you can just set up as a subdomain.
I forgot to say that I use both WordPress and Feather at the moment.
I'm thinking about using Ghost lately, but I'm also looking for the right thing. Another one I found recently was Feather(dot)so. They're much more modern, good looking, and easier to use than WordPress. Check em out.
I tried Ghost but newer of Ghost only works on ubuntu, I use centos.

Hugo on Netlify. I've added Netlify CMS to it as well and it's a very nice setup.

Maybe it has something to do with the slower economy at the moment, we're definitely finding it harder to grow as fast as the same time last year. Not quite as exciting to talk about etc.
That is dead simple to do with WordPress, any good WordPress hosting could be set up with a sub domain so it's separate from any app hosting.

For framer I see you have no categories/authors/tags also no pagination etc. Do you worry about SEO?
I do :) it's possible to create categories and I did, but it's not on the front yet, I'll add them. But not sure it the categories I made will have their urls or not, maybe it's just for the front. Plus, tags authors are secondary things for me though it's possible to create authors. framer sites are super fast and for now that's the thing that I care the most. As I said, it's doing the simple required things. They're shipping new features so I know that it'll has fully functional cms

Yes, but we have to pay subscription for that one just like the other blogging platform

Mine is still on the free tier. I've been using it for around 3-4 weeks more or less to make my tech newsletter.
This is what I've got so far from using beehiiv. If you want to have more options/personal adjustment to your UI/UX, use Wordpress.
But If you want to write right away and avoid the confusion of designing your website, use beehiiv. Their UI is templated, you can change primary, secondary, and tertiary colors. I personally think that their UI template is beautiful enough.
many company scale up to 200k subscribers to their newsletter/blog with Beehiiv. So it's definitely legit.
