With quarantine continuing this week in most parts of the world, wondering what you folks are readings?
I just started Nir Eyal's Indistractable and so far enjoying it.
Essentialism - Greg McKeown
One of my favorites, I tend to read it annually
Agreed - definitely not just a one-time-read.
Now, I am getting excited. Will add that in the reading list.
Just finished this one. Good read!
Next up on the pile: Made to Stick - Chip & Dan Heath
On Made to Stick at the moment, ton of citations to other books I already read, but overall been enjoying it
Such a good read! I find myself having to re-read every few years because I get my shit together, then lose it again and need to be reminded of the discipline.
Debt: The First 5000 Years - David Graeber
Book is mind-blowing- a bit repetitive, but it's useful to get through the density
Conan the Cimerian (aka Conan The Barbarian). I try not to entertain myself with internet (e.g. reading news, online forums, netflix) but allow myself to read fiction. If its not fictions then I usually read philosophy.
I used to read a lot more business books but I don't know if they actually helped me build my company.
Measure What Matters :)
"A New Program for Graphic Design" by David Reinfurt
Pretty great so far
Re-reading Fooled by Randomness by NN Taleb
I should do the same. First time, I couldn't really understand.
On Writing Well (reading), The e-myth revisited (listening)
I'll be picking up The Mom Test by Rob Fitzpatrick. Thanks to @JonathanOron for the recommendation.
I just got that last week. online edition. Looking forward to that book. Thanks for @robfitz
Glad to see somebody else reads fiction. My bed time story book right now is Magic 2.0 book 5 - Out of Spite, Out of Mind
Thanks, everyone. Discovered so many good books to read next :)
The Wheel of Time and also Radical Candor.
The Forever Transaction - Robbie Kellman Baxter
Mighty Be Our Powers, memoir by Leymah Gbowee. Lately I've been finding business inspiration in non-business books. This is a great story of how Gbowee built a movement/community in the middle of a war; lots of goods life lessions.
The Everything Store by Brad Stone
another awesome read
that's a book which made me a fan of AMZN.
I'm reading Inspired, 2nd edition - Marty Cagan
Remote - Office Not Required
by the founders of Basecamp
The Power of Habit
Nice. If you have read Atomic habits, can you compare?
Have read both though 10 years apart :) Power of Habit has more research and theory and includes 'case studies'. Atomic Habits feels more modern and has actionable advice for individuals. Both books have some form of habit loops and how the brain works.
Atomic Habits resonated with me a ton more
I've only heard "Atomic Habits" on Blinkist. So I do not recall a lot of it.
Good ideas! I was looking for some books written by the Froid or something like that. I would like to read more about our psychology how our brain is working and all this kind of information. I also found light novel websites https://novelonlinefull.com and there are new formats of the novels. To tell you the truth I was impressed to see that people now are working so hard on this subject and try to implement new styles. I guess that everyone can find something interesting for themselves. But my wish to read about psychology does not disappear.
Re-reading the Zappos book [1]. It's neat to read about their story but also how customer service can be your edge, especially in an David vs. Goliath situation.
[1] Book is called - Delivering Happiness: A Path to Profits, Passion, and Purpose. Their website is deliveringhappinessbook.com although it seems to be down at the moment.
I'm reading White by Bret Easton Ellis.
Im a huge fan of all his work but find this to be one of his best books. It's not a novel, but a piece where he speaks from his heart and mind about politics, movies and his life in general.
Traction by Gabriel Weinberg.
Easily the best method for startup growth I've seen after reading dozens of books on it. It's basically the scientific method for startups.
Highly recommended.
The Black Swan - Nassim Nicholas Taleb
When Kale & Coffee Compete-- Alan Klement
