As someone who joins/lurks a lot of communities on Discord this is the first I've come across to actually do it right. A lot of very sharp minds in all areas of business and that goes double for digital marketing. The channels are very active there are always people in the voice channels collaborating, sharing, creating content, etc

They also do a web stream where they feature a wide-array of individuals and startups. Not to mention the speed networking sessions are totally nuts and have needed me many positive interaction and opportunities in the startup world. Furlough Community is a must see!

Had very similar experiences and eventually just gave up. Haven't found any community that offers anything that's not available better on Twitter.

Running an active community is extremely hard work and a full-time job for at least one person. But sadly for most, it's just an easy money grab since setting up the infrastructure (i.e. spinning up a Discord server) is very easy.

It's like organizing a "party" just by renting a room. Then as you open the doors, you get a room full of strangers but not much going on. Hence people quickly leave again as they realize no party is going on. At the same time, the organizer keeps promoting it as a party while investing nothing into actually making sure people have a good time.

Then also contentuk.co because I focus on content a bunch. There's probably a vertical or specialism-specific community that's fairly active that you don't know about yet. Worth asking others who do specifically what you do to find out what that is!

I've joined Rosie Sherry's "The Indiependent" community and am super happy about it. The rules of the game have turned it into an awesome and lasting community. People stay around, and the community doesn't grow too fast. So we have a chance to get to know each other.

It's a paid community of bootstrapped entrepreneurs at different stages.
Entrepreneurship sometimes feels like a single player game, and this community helped answer many of my questions and be a space for support. We have a weekly call and regularly have successfull bootstrappers on for an AMA.

How has no one mentioned Friends of Lenny's, it is a paid-for newsletter and community. Initially focused on product managers but now branched out into other areas such as early stage founders. Also for the web3 curious, Im a member of BanklessDAO and they all seem super nice and helpful.

So far, I liked https://megamaker.co/ the best. The paid part of it is a good filter. Real conversations in there and not mostly "I build this, please buy now" as I saw it in MicroConf Connect.

Folks were great for helping me out when I have problems. The only community I come back to every day.

It covers people working on Micro SaaS products and also covers Micro opportunities around Info Products, Productized services too. It also comes with some good reports on 75+ niches on how current micro trends are making money.

Simply a good start for people working to get into Indie hacking.

Good people that want to read and write more. Been in there for a year. Worth ever $7/mo.

As a sidenote, I made about $500+ from the that group. Not as an affiliate, just as a result of talking to interesting people and doing some dev/writing/editing work for them. I think these sorts of groups have high potential in general, especially if there's less than 100 people there. Once the groups get big, it the quality of the connection usually suffers.

I think I'll also join this one soon. Just read the Manifesto today and it resonates.

If you're into tech, I really like hackernews - engagement is pretty high, and there are tons of people who are willing to leave feedback on whatever you're working on.

I've recently joined www.crowdscale.org/ - it's a new (+paid) platform; mostly for online coaches, healers, and digital marketers.

One big part of the project is for business owners to focus on their "zone of genius" by leveraging the network to take care of the rest (ex: marketing, if you don't like marketing).
