Which Kanban tool are you using?

I'm considering starting a new project on the productivity space, and I'm wondering which Kanban tools are the most used between startups and indie hackers.

I guess:

  • Trello
  • Asana
  • ... ?

Thank you for your input!

UPDATE 12/12/23:

This is enriching! Here's the list of your recommendations so far:

  • Trello x5
  • Notion x4
  • Asana x3
  • Github Projects x2
  • JIRA x2
  • Blitzit
  • GitLab
  • Zixflow
  • Quire
  • Monday
  • ClickUp
  • Zenkit
  • Pivotal tracker

Way more diverse than I expected!

I used to use Asana, but I'm tryin Notion now. It's good enough!

  2. 2

Github Projects. I'm using Github Issues to track all the work anyway, so I created a project on top of it to have a simple Kanban view of the work.

I'm using Blitzit currently. It has a simple kanban with time-tracking.

Trello and Notion are rather useful and simple solutions for many teams that prefer using online boards for daily process monitoring, team task planning, and responding to quick changes.
However, I personally use a Gantt chart view to plan my projects and think that it is much better than boards. The diagram assists in managing multiple projects and teams as well as creating long-term goals.
There are many benefits of this chart and evidence of its usefulness. Here's a good article to explore the insights - https://blog.ganttpro.com/en/ultimate-guide-gantt-charts/
    Hopefully, it'll be useful.

    pivotal tracker

jira is too complex with too many features. people fall in love it, and slowly their job becomes "doing jira". they start using it for day-to-day communication, documentation, planning, assigning work, etc. jira isn't your product and never will be, it's a trap.

pivotal tracker has the benefit of providing less, and therefore keeping your focus on the product and shipping

It won't matter. Pick a random one and move on.

If you are asking, it means you need something simple: Trello/Asana.

If you want something that integrates with your code easily and allows easy integrations/automations (when you need them in the future): Github projects.

If you need something much more complex and feature-rich: Jira.

If you need something that integrates with your Microsoft stack, MS DevOps is the MS version of Jira.

I wasn't clear about my intentions, sorry. I'm not looking for a tool to use (I usually go with Trello), I'm trying to get a sense of the ecosystem out there because my idea implies API integrations with the most popular tools.
Thank you for the great advice anyway!

If you are a development -based company with your own source code.

GitLab has an integrated Kanban for your dev team and can be upgraded to a full customer success board in the premium plan

    Just simple.

Notion works great for me. I can use the Kanban Board along with the document features, managing a small team very nicely.

    I'm using Trello.

I'm running a design subscription agency.

All my clients are comfortable using Trello, all were familiar with Trello so not much hassle with this one.

FREE version is working fine for me.

I use Asana! I used it in my last job and really like it. For day to day task planning, I use the calendar view though, not Kanban. I only use the Kanban for projects where I need to track progress and status of features or bugs.

Notion with the task template. Works great for small projects

Trello was always a great tool when we first started, but we switched to Notion as it has the concept of pages. We can write scope documents for new features and reference between tasks and documentation more easily.

I'm currently using Canva for my project management needs, and it has been a game-changer. Its intuitive interface and customizable boards make task visualization and collaboration a breeze. The analytics and reporting features also provide valuable insights, enhancing our overall workflow efficiency. Highly recommend for anyone looking to streamline their project management with a reliable Kanban solution

Hi! thank you for your reply! I believe you confused the name, Canva is a design tool. Or am I missing a big aspect of it? Would love to know the tool you meant =)
