I just went online with https://producthero.app and was wondering which Payment Gateway should I implement in order to dealing with different VATS in the EU Countries. Do you know any Payment Gateway that calculates it automatically based on the billing address specified by the user?? I saw one a couple of month ago, bookmarked it somewhere, but I can't retrieve it anymore :-( Thanks in advance for any suggestion!
I use Paddle for this on plausible.io. It does automatic VAT handling for you.
Thank you!!!!!! It was exactly Paddle what I was looking for!!
Yes, Paddle if you don't want to deal with VAT/MOSS.
How does their pricing look like?
you can compare prices here: https://www.csabakissi.com/saascalc.html . It was 5% + 50c earlier. Seems they've removed the pricing table from the site.
Do you have a merchant account?
If so I have a gateway that works with over 150 processors and adding something like auto vat isn't difficult.
Also any Indie Hacker here dealing with VATS and stuff from Germany? Looks like it's an hell to get online payments with VATS if you are registered as consulting solo...any ideas/suggestions??
I have done it for JustComments. Basically ask your customers for VAT ID and the address. If VAT is provided or address is outside of the EU, no tax (I put a reverse charge note on the invoice in this case). Otherwise, you apply a German VAT for the invoice. Consult your tax advisor, there are certain thresholds after which you might need to apply the VAT rate of the EU member state where the customer is based. And make sure you have your car ID or tax number as well as customer's on the invoice.
Thank you Orkon! So much usefull! May I ask you exactly which form of Incorporating did you used? Did you simply apply thought ELSTER for "selbständigen (freiberuflichen) Tätigkeit"?
That was it or did you have to register/do something else?
Also if you can suggest me a good tax advisor in Germany it would be great cause the one I have has no idea about selling sw online :-(
Thank you a lot in advance for any input you can give me!
Yes, simple selbständigen (freiberuflichen) Tätigkeit" If you don't qualify for a Freiberuf, the you need to register a Gewerbe at Gewerbeamt. You might then need to pay Gewerbe Tax, once your revenue reaches a certain level.
Orkon! Sorry to bother you again. I went smoothly with Paddle integration. Just a question: when you say "I put a reverse charge note on the invoice" you make it manually once you got the payment, do you? I mean it's nothing to implement at checkout code level, am I right? Thank you!!
I integrated stripe billing only (via API, not manual) I store the billing address and VAT ID in my database and I can determine with what parameters the invoices get created.
If you can try Ideal
Thank you I will take a deeper look, but on surface at least judging from the website it doesn't look very mhhh professional (?). I mean I toke a look at their demo here https://www.ideal.nl/demo/en/?screens=dskweb and there is no way to understand how I am suppose to go to the next page. Have you already experience with them?
Yes we do. actually everyone in the Netherlands does. they are used by every e-commerce company here. you could also check https://www.adyen.com/ who are more global.
