Paddle - Because it works for founders located just about anywhere in the world and is very easy to setup and use for SaaS.

Stripe provides a lot of tools for developer to make the integration easy:

    • Extremely good documentation with a lot of tutorial, guide, etc. on how to implement Stripe. Even if you don't like the official documentation, you can find a lot of article written by third party
    • Easy to test with development environment
    • Test webhook on your local environment
    • A command line tool with Stripe CLI
    • All features needed for a SaaS is implemented by Stripe: upgrade, cancellation, payment failure, etc
    • Invoicing
    • Accept a lot of variety of payment: not only limited to credit card. For example you can implement direct debit
    • Well-know and trusted brand

And when you think the Stripe isn't enough, you can a large of choice in the Stripe marketplace where you can connect any third party tool to augment your Stripe experience.

If you are lucky and living where is accept without any restriction, I highly recommend Stripe. I use it for my own SaaS but also used in my React SaaS Starter Kit.

Can an individual (ie not incorporated entity) accept payment with Stripe?

      1. 3

Yes, I have paid freelancers via Stripe payment links. Might depend on the country though.

      2. 2

I think it's totally depend on the country if Stripe accept individual or not.

    2. 1

Sadly they only support a limited list of countries.

  3. 3

    I use LemonSqueezy.
    Reasons-
1)It is very to get started with and supports my country.
    2) Its an MoR so they handle tax and filing etc
    3) The team is very active in resolving issues

I live in Turkey and there are not many alternatives as paypal blocked and stripe not in Turkey yet. So I prefer Paddle.

  5. 3

We are based in India and our users, almost all of them, are outside of India. We use Paypal and Razorpay. Paypal to process international subscriptions and Razorpay for India. We would love to move to Stripe but the documentation required for Stripe was more challenging compared to Paypal, when we decided to build the paywall.

I use Gumroad for my SaaS

    Majorly because

    • Stripe does not allow individuals to accept payments from customers located outside India.
    • I can keep all my subscriptions in one place as I'm already selling a few products on Gumroad.
    • Easy to set up affiliate programs
    • They take care of collecting VAT
    1. 2

is it possible to use gumroad? I mean, how do you integrate gumroad with your sass, gumroad is for selling digital art right

      1. 2

I'm also using gumroad because I want an easy way to handle VAT. Gumroad offers a webhook, and so on every sale they call my webhook where I can handle the sale on my backend.

        Works great.

        1. 2

I reached out to the Gumroad support team and confirmed that you could use Gumroad for SaaS. No issues with their policies

          1. 1

wow thank you, btw do you consider to use paypal? it's globally accepted too right

        2. 1

don't know about it before, thank you, will try it

    2. 1

Like everyone recommend stripe but it's not for indie hackers who're in India. Alternatives are Paypal, it will allow you to accept in USD. Yes also gumroad.

    1. Paynow (local Polish operator) - for one-time CC payments and online bank transfers; why: lowest fees possible
    2. Stripe - for recurring CC payments; why: Paynow doesn't process recurring payments
    3. PayPal - for recurring PayPal wallet payments; why: existing PayPal users.

Stripe has been by far my favorite to work with as a developer. Fantastic documentation!

To manage the member subscriptions of the WBE Space I am using Buymeacoffee. Does the job :)

  10. 2

We're on Stripe like many Indiehackers.

    The reasons being:

    • Extremely easy to integrate with your platform
    • We've got no fees for a while yet due to a partnership deal
    • Great documentation
    • The very user friendly billing portal

You can't go far wrong with Stripe or Paddle these days. They've both made some of the other players in the market look woefully behind!

  11. 2

I use Stripe for Pingparrot because it by far has the best developer experience. The trickiest part is dealing with VAT so I'm always keeping an eye on Paddle.

  12. 2

Stripe because of how easy it was to implement. Also I had great experience with their customer support from a previous project and it left a positive impression

  13. 2

Stripe because of it's simple integration with Memberstack (which I also needed).

  14. 2

    Depends on your business type.

  15. 1

We are using Stripe. They have the best development experience (great docs and support) but also Stripe Connect allows us to onboard other SaaS and help them with their own Stripe integration.

  16. 1

Stripe (80%) + Paypal (20%) for http://www.databloo.com/ - I think you should provide both solutions in the case of e-commerce (especially for B2C).
