I'm a tech entrepreneur and I'm very new to the sales world. Are there any well known industry experts that blog about sales tactics and techniques?
I know Neil Patel is famous in the Digital Marketing world, are there similar people in the sales world?
@louisswiss and @Fersh are worth checking out.
Thanks for the shoutout @rosiesherry!
Anything in particular you're struggling with, @caseyscompass?
You might find my podcast on sales useful - it's tailored to early stage bootstrappers trying to grow from $0-50k in MRR.
Another great resource is the Close.io blog.
One popular resource I'd stay away from is the Hubspot blog - some of the sales advice there is great, but a lot of it is awful. They seem to prioritise SEO over content very often :/
Hey Louis, thanks for replying. I'm building prospecting tools for sales teams, so I have two questions for you.
We have some great tools for prospecting but not sure which ones overlap with the most sales teams. Each sales team prospects in a slightly different way, and because I've never been in sales, I'm not sure which tool I should focus on first. I'm looking for someone whose worked with a lot of sales teams to help us understand which tool we should launch initially.
Second is our general go to market strategy. It feels a bit like we're in a catch-22: We don't know what to pitch because we aren't having enough conversations with sales reps to understand their pain points, and we can't get enough conversations because we are coming in with a weak pitch. How can we break out of this?
As you can tell, we are in the very early stages of market research and product development, but when entering into this world of sales the "shotgun" approach feels very unfocused, so I'd love some advice on what to focus on, what metrics and goals to set up, etc.
