Stackcommerce contacted us recently and proposed to sell our app through them.
Before signing with them, I'd like to get some feedbacks from people who already worked with them.
The idea is they make a big discount on your product, and then handle all the marketing / distribution, and even some paid ads if it makes sense.
They have partnerships with big publishers like Engadget, Gizmodo, Business Insider, some who would probably be an interesting audience for our product (CashNotify, a desktop app to get Stripe and PayPal notifications).
We've never done paid marketing, so this is a first for us. The big pro I see is that we could get a big reach without spending money upfront.
The big con is that they take a big cut. Not sure I can give too much details, but we'd need to sell a lot more units to make the same money than when selling directly.
Considering we're not doing any marketing, this could only be positive.
Most of all, I'd like to make sure there's no surprise with them, e.g. some tricky article in their contract with which they'd claim IP or whatever.
Who has any feedback working with them?
Any final updates on this?

I currently have 2 deals up with a partner. It's not as flashy as they sell it. They claim to have a reach of millions but sales don't reflected. So it's a good option but think you will get rich. You will get plenty of users that will give you feedback and use the app.
How did it go? I just got a similar proposal from them
Not launched yet—though we signed the agreement.
We had a bunch of doubts: what if we can't provide support? what about fraud and chargebacks? etc.
In the end we decided it could be a great opportunity. And because we have the option to end the promotion at any moment, we think our risk is quite limited.
We're eager to see what kind of impact this could have. In a way, this will be a test of how much pricing and promotion impact our sales.
How'd it go? I have a call with them next week but our thoughts were similar to yours. Would love to hear about the good, the bad and the ugly.
Thanks
The launch was mid-last week, so we don't have so much data yet. And I'm not really sure if it's already at full power (published on all their partners' websites) or not.
So far, nothing impressive is happening. We got a bit more sales than usual—but not that much. And considering the discount + their cut, we effectively have to sell a lot more licenses. I hope it'll ramp up quite significantly. DM me if you want more details.
The setup was ok, took a few hours to complete everything (esp. the billing/tax part as they ask you to sign some IRS forms, which requires some research to know what you need to say).
The dashboard could be more complete. There's not much information on sales, and we can'give refunds ourselves. Fortunately their support team replies in a matter of hours (a few days at most), so we ask them to process refunds.
If you decide to move forward with them, I'd be interested to get your feedback as well.
Hi! Do you have any updates? We got offer from them as well and we are considering it. Thanks!
Hey, so in a nutshell:
=> In our case, we did not spend too much time on this deal: a few hours on administrative stuff (contract, taxes, etc.) and half a day on operational stuff (redeem page, generate licenses, etc.), so I'd say any additional sale is worth it.
However, if we had to spend more time to do specific development, I'm not sure about the ROI.
Thanks for the insides. What about your organic traffic? Did you saw some boost there as well? Any new backlinks thanks to that discount? Or it didn't had any effect.
Thanks!
Nothing.
K, I speak to them this Fri. so will let you know how it goes. I'd like to see how their audience performs with SaaS products vs physical goods.
