How many folks here are building in a competitive or somewhat crowded space? How do you go about differentiating yourself when there are many products that are similar?
I'm building FeedHive and LinkDrip in super competitive markets.
But just because a market has a lot of similar products doesn't mean it's necessarily "crowded" or "saturated".
Crowded and saturated means that demand is fully met and that supply is competing.
But if the market just has a lot of existing products, it typically means that there are also a lot of people and, therefore, a lot of demand.
And I love markets with a lot of demand.
It's way easier to find demand and satisfy it than to create new markets and new demand...
Take it as a positive thing 🙌
Great looking products by the way!
Definitely validates the market when there are a lot of players in there. Also makes it easier to get ideas of what has been successful.
hm that's an interesting perspective how you see the market. I'm also changing my view from time to time. Don't need to create something disruptive to be successful! Sometimes, follow the rising demand of niche market is also a good idea!
Really good point here @SimonHoiberg 👍am building fieldshark in a competitive space but I believe that’s great for me.
I am the Product Manager at Kinde. We are on a mission to build the Shopify for SaaS.
So far, we have shipped an
authenticationanduser managementoffering that we believe is fit to compete with other competitors (we will expand tobilling, feature flagging, analytics, supportand many other features in the near future).Below are a few of our unique selling points:
Even though there are a lot of authentication platforms in the market, we believe there is still a lot of unrealised potential in the authentication market. Customers don't see the value of using an authentication platform themselves and rather build their own, which 9/10 leads to maintenance and scalable headaches (not always).

Building in a new market is not easy for everyone. Personally, I'm involved in the development of roofing https://ubrothersconstruction.com/catalog/roofing projects. It's a real challenge to withstand niche competition and there are many options you need to try to succeed at your endeavour.
Yes, I have been building my app in the very crowded project management space. A lot of these apps only cater to larger teams and organizations. Not the small IH or startup -- that is my differentiator. Providing features that a team of 1 would find useful, when a lot of these apps focus around multi-team collaboration
I'm building planny.co. Is full of competitors that before i didn't know.
Yep, this is a competitive space for sure. The auto tweet suggestions look like a great feature.
I am building https://job99.co. A job portal that allow employer from anywhere in the world to post job at very low cost. Currently focusing in Malaysia first.
Job99 Malaysia: https://job99.co/malaysia
Job99 Singapore: https://job99.co/singapore
Very cool! Good luck.
I'm building swipekit.app in a rather competitive space.
Early this year I had hardly any competitors. Now they are springing up like crazy and two of them have really good traction.
My key goal before christmas is to differentiate by building features horizontally and put in competitive pricing.
I also have a slight tech advantage and I'm gonna fully use it to automatically create seo indexable pages automatically.
Good luck! Half the battle is your marketing strategy.
I'm building Reflame, which has a bunch of direct competitors in the web app deployment space, and a boatload more indirect ones in the larger Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment space.
Differentiation in the short term is mostly on tech. Literally 1000x+ better tech that takes deployment from minutes to milliseconds, and designed to stay just as fast regardless of how big your app and team gets.
But I fully expect the tech advantage to diminish over time, as others in the industry become forced to compete and build similar tech to keep up (or become irrelevant and get replaced by newer players).
At that point I expect the differentiation will be on 2 fronts: incentives alignment and vertical integration.
By incentives alignment, I mean aligning our incentives as a business with the incentives of our customers. In practical terms, this means offering simple, fixed monthly per-seat pricing with unlimited usage, instead of the usage-based pricing that's so prevalent in the industry. This way, slow deploys hurt our business as much as they hurt our customers' experience, and we'll always have a strong financial incentive to invest in keeping deployments fast and making it faster over time (allowing us to serve more customers on the same hardware and pocket the difference as profit).
By vertical integration, I mean Reflame intends to either fully own or deeply integrate into every part of a developer's workflow for building and deploying apps. This should allow us to offer a developer experience that is easier to set up, faster, and more cohesive and helpful than anything else out there. In that sense, Reflame is eventually going to look more like a mass-market consumer product than a typical piece of developer tooling/infra.
Really cool app. I could see how’s it useful, deploying can be such a hassle! You should focus a bit on your landing pages and I’ll bet you’ll have lots of users try it out and not doing a lot of comparison shopping.
I am literally competing vs linktree and linkpop lmao, wish me luck
good luck! How you position it may make all the difference, even if the features are similar!
