Who is holding you (and your side-hustle) accountable?

I've been trying to work on my side-hustle in the early mornings and weekends but lately the warm bed and snooze button are winning versus my motivation 😴.

In the past to keep a good exercise routine, I would ask a friend to join me at the gym and we would hold each other accountable. If you're late or don't show up, you feel terrible and it's easier to be consistent.

Has anyone found accountability buddies like this with side-hustle work?

I've been thinking about creating a Slack instance for this. It would ping group members based on when they plan on "showing up" for side-hustle. I have ideas for how to make it fun and build a culture of cheering each other on - but first I wanted to see if anything like this exists (that I could just join) and if others are interested.

    Hi Zach
This is indeed a good idea. I do stuff on weekends such as blockchain development. I intend to release a blockchain application. But I don't know anyone to whom I can be accountable. Maybe you can include me in your slack group and have a status meeting kind of thing wherein I can update people on my status of progress. What are your thoughts on this. Please let me know.
    Thank you

Hey Sam, I'll definitely let you know if I create it 👍

Hey Zach, the Indie Bites podcast is always mentioning the Weekend Club. I think the point is to show up and be accountable on Saturday's. But not every week day. Sounds like you have something similar in mind.

I've found for accountability two things have helped me. I got into a master mind group. We meet for an hour once a week, discuss what we've done and what we're up to. And at the end of the call we commit to the "1 thing " we're going to get done next week.

I also started building in public. I post on Twitter frequently about it and each week I write a post on the week on my blog, on Twitter, and on IH.

Hey Bryan. Oh right, I've heard of Weekend Club and Master Mind groups in the past. Looks like they're more engaging (and probably more effective). I could see how a Master Mind group could especially help with accountability as you don't want to be the person saying "I didn't get much done this week" over and over.

Thanks for the tips on what you do! I bet building in public could really help. I'm still working on getting over stage fright 😬.

State fright is real. My advise is just start at your own pace. Watching others do it made me realize my own fears were just that fears, but not real ones. People are genuinely interested to see other people do interesting things. And interesting really just means sharing what you're doing, the world is huge, there are a lot of interests. :)

          These are great points. Thanks!
