Hi everyone,
Im doing research for my project, which im really excited about. But i have one question? Who is my customer? Obviously i know who would be using the product if it ever came to be. But i cant nail this one down. Situation is as follows; the product im trying to build is for 2 set of customer, 1 of whom would be the paying customer. The other would be using to product. The problem im trying to tackle is for the non paying customer, the person that has no choice but to use the product. On the other side, i have noticed that the paying customer has hard time using the product they have now. Its uintuitive, it buggy, it lacks important features and it has a lot of errors.
So, whom do i consider my customer? My initial thought is both, since both will he using the product and i think could create something useful.
Id appreciate some insight. Thank you.
They're both your customer.
If you're building a SaaS product for enterprise, the CTO is the one punching in their corp card details. But the CTO is almost certainly not the person using your product. But that doesn't matter—you still need to address the needs of the folks staring at your UI all day to make the CTO happy.
If the people paying for your product are unhappy, they'll stop paying. If the folks who actually use the product are unhappy, your paying customer will choose a better option. Semantically, you might make the argument that one is or is not the customer, but functionally it makes no difference.
