Who is your *ideal* customer? How do you know?

Over the years I've had amazing ideas at 2 am and immediately rushed and bought the domain name, and created a landing page.

In the morning I'm not so sure it's an amazing idea.

Curious to hear if and how y'all talk to customers/ potential customers to understand them better.

If you don't talk to customers/ potential customers why not? (serious question to understand the thought process)

I'm in the same situation as you, I had an idea, and build a landing page:

I'm SE so I can pump out landing page without effort in 30 mins, no so big deal, but the general responses are, "do you know your customer, and have you talked to them first"?

I guess your in the same situation as me, more software focused, we have to switch our mind and try to find a problem first, and customers for it.

Not have an idea and build a landing page.

Yes, 100% talking to customers first really helps understand what they want, how they think, etc.
