Who takes the Stairstep Approach?

I love the concept of the Stairstep approach. I must admit, I skipped a few stairs and I regret it.
Who here has or is taking the "Stairstep Approach"?
I skipped a few steps as well and regretted it.
I could have had a lot more savings and had a "better" life during the 2 years I tried to build my first SaaS.
