Whoa.. Baby arrives in 7 months. My goal is to launch SOMETHING before then.
I have started more side hustle ideas than I can count. My problem is I never actually get it to the finish line. Something inevitably deters my attention and kills my confidence and the projects slowly fade away.
I recently received the great news that my wife is pregnant with our first child. Obviously, I'm excited. Honestly, though, I always thought I would have had a side hustle launched and generating some sort of revenue by now.
One thing I'm proud of is my unrelenting desire to learn and the many different skills I have acquired. From Wordpress, Adobe + Graphic design, video editing, Bubble (no-code), CRM systems - you name it. I have experience for every stage of launching a business. I have the mind of engineer that likes to tinker and the experience and education of a marketer that can identify opportunities and communicate value. My one tragic flaw is the inability to follow through.
So, in a somewhat vulnerable IH post that reads like a journal entry, I'm declaring that I will launch something before baby arrives. I won't let go of my dream of being a successful and self-reliant IH who controls his own time and decides what problems to solve.
This community is the best on the internet and I thank each and everyone here!

As a father of two beautiful babies, I know what it feels like to struggle to find the time and learn something new. Especially with the stuff that you mentioned, I'm working in programming so I spend a lot of time learning new codes and new techniques on the computer and I have to manage all of that while one of my baby girl's is asking me random questions.
This one time, I had a development project to complete and imagine in one hand, I had my laptop working my way through codes, and in the other, I was changing my daughter's diapers. It was hilarious.
We really struggled to conceive in the very beginning, we took so many different types of aids to help with the process until my friend suggested we try other alternative methods, I don't know if it's relevant to anybody here but it really helped me a lot so I posted a link here for anybody in need of support https://genderex.com and then everything worked out.
So now whatever happens, I will always have one hand on my work and the other trying to be the best father I can possible be :)

Being a father of 2 small kids and doing IH-ing, I can tell you one thing, prepare for ultra-laser-focus :)
Yes, so much this. PLUS after you have a child you will look back on the life you have right now and realise how much time you did have to do stuff.
I know I'm going to be so mad at myself for all the time I had wasted!

The little one (sex is still unknown) certainly has become my WHY! I would love to be able to decide when I'm home and spending time with him/her and mom vs working away at the office. I also love the idea of showing my kid that your life is in your own hands - make it what you want!
.. Extra thanks for the reminder to give extra love and attention to the wife. She is working her butt off growing that little baby. Women are truly incredible for what they are able to do!
