Hi everyone,
Curious to see if anyone has been able to build a twitter following for their business from 0 to any significant amount - organically.
Anyone?
I've found a few users through twitter. Followers are extremely low but making the right comment on higher profile tweets can help.
I've never pushed a business account, but I was able to grow my account to 1000. I don't really try very hard though. I feel like if you're "trying hard" on twitter, your tweets will suck.
Twitter is dead on my end. Maybe im just using the wrong hashtags but theres zero reach anymore on it.
Twitter is a lot of work. When you are less than 5k followers, it’s better to engage in conversations. If you have more than 5k followers, start tweeting in the wild and you’ll see great results. I also found threads to help growing, but that is really time consuming.
It’s exhausting to say the least. I found only creating long threads has helped. One off tweets don’t really do much. Also just conversing with others in someone else’s tweet and DMs have helped me.
Reddits been easier and has had more success for me
I was trying for a while, but it take a lot of work!
I've had much better luck on LinkedIn, just try to avoid the cringe.
Twitter comes and goes so you have to be consistent even when you are not seeing "returns"
I'm currently trying :)

It's effort, but to be honest, most of the effort goes into DMing folks and having personal conversations.
I was able to find my first 20 beta users by simply reaching out and asking them to try it :)
Yes outreach works really well on Twitter.
But I don't have the feeling it helps build a community or a "substantial" following.
Two things to add here as social media and community manager:
Nopeee... i was eager to come to comment section if any has commented yes.
I've grown my newsletter's Twitter account from 0 to 19,000 followers in a relatively short time period - all organic.
I publish content that comes from mini interviews with others on Twitter and leverage them sharing the published piece with their audience as well as some other gimmicky tweets for engagement.

Why do you want a large Twitter following?
You don't need one to generate revenue from it - https://www.indiehackers.com/post/steal-the-tweet-that-made-me-4-figures-in-revenue-with-less-than-100-followers-on-twitter-cd1b6afe0b
I still have less than 100 followers and I'm still making money from my limited Twitter activity.
Of course there's nothing wrong with building a large following, but if you're looking to grow a business I'd focus on revenue before follower count
I have grown a few Twitters but you usually need a decent niche and some seeded followers who care. Find your cool friends and force them to retweet you a few times ;)
false
me. 2 weeks ago was at 100 followers. now im at 1500. cracked the code!
should i make like a tutorial video and post on YT or something? indiehackers doesnt let me make posts so 🤷
I'm dying to know.
How did you do?

I've also been promoting founders cafe on twitter through replies and helping other founders too. I sometimes share the articles that I wrote. This method helped me grow my followers :))
