I spent most of yesterday debugging an issue causing slowness with IH's website, and also preparing to today's podcast episode.

Today I recorded an episode with Cesar Kuriyama who created what's recently become my favorite app: 1 Second Everyday. Next I need to edit it and queue it up for release. I'm also going to be putting lots of though into promoting episodes and pitching press via storytelling, which will likely change the kinds of episodes I record and guests I bring on in the future.

Re promoting podcasts. Here's some unsolicited advice:

      1) Break episodes into chunks

      • “How Steli Efti writes a cold email”
      • “Why Sahil Lavingia changed his mind about funding”

Share on social + YouTube. (Joe Rogan style)

      2) Start uploading every episode to YouTube

If every episode was on YouTube (and clipped into chunks) you'd have 15k+ subs by now.

Just web cams will look a bit amateurish (I don't think it matters). But this style is a happy medium. Then when your in person set up cameras ...

No video won't do big numbers. But the key is having YouTube infrastructure in place. Then when you net a whale and you do it face to face with cameras you'll have subs waiting. And views will compound.

Have you heard of Chrome Lighthouse? Apparently it's a reporting / metrics tool for webpage quality baked into DevTools. I think it's really neat and could be helpful! https://developers.google.com/web/tools/lighthouse/

I need to bake this into my personal procedures / protocols for my tooling / infrastructure as a big todo :)

What will you accomplish by end of year?

    • Finish reading through "The Haskell Book"
    • Set up personal dotfiles

What did you do yesterday to work towards your goal?

    • Worked through a portion of Chapter 9

    What will you do today?

    • Continue working through Chapter 9
    • See how far I can get with Chapter 10
    • Probably need to set up a new machine

      7:24PM ET

      Timing statistics: 4h 43m (82% productive)

Finished reading through and completing exercises for Chapter 9 / 31. Started to set up my new laptop in order to make good of the return policy if need be. Apparently Ubuntu 18.04.3 comes with Linux 5.0.3, vs. 18.04.02 with Linux 4.15.x which is the one used in the certification process and hopefully better recognizes the OEM drivers. Not hard stuff, just tedious.

Looking forward to reading about Chapter 10 / 31. I'm exactly 30% of the way through the book by page count. I'm going to finish one way or another, because finishing things is important to me and there's so much knowledge I can apply going forward.

Thanks, that sounds like a good idea!
There's quite a few large companies using Go anyway (google, amazon, microsoft,..). :)
