    Yesterday

    • Setup dev tasks
    1. 1

Down here it isn't exactly swimming weather either at the moment. I'm swimming as exercise at an inside pool and don't care much about the weather (summer or winter alike) It is an olympic size pool where the professionals train. Luckily there's a few lanes which are free to use for us normal folk trying to swim lap after lap.

@Janice πŸ™‚ Thanks for bringing us together for stand up. I’m often plagued by design perfection too. I try to remind myself that perfect is a myth. Seeing others ship early for feedback has probably been one of the biggest benefits of joining IH.

    1. 2

@dru_riley can you please hurry, I need your book! LOL.

Is the content based on what worked for your own SaaS'?

      1. 2

πŸ˜† Thanks for the encouragement man!

It's based on case studies I've done looking at what's working for other SaaS companies. The idea was to have a lookbook for marketing strategy.

        1. 2

πŸ‘πŸ» nice. Looking forward to it.

@dru_riley! A few times I nearly drowned in the wormhole of design perfection. But I kept hearing his (written) voice about seeing my landing page today, which kicked my ass into "let it be" gear. Thanks for the accountability! Landing page will be deployed on Monday!

    1. 1

Congrats on finishing your landing page design!

Kudos to @jpusateri who already has 3 projects out there. Wow.

    1. 2

Ha, thanks, actually two of those are effectively on a side burner...in another house...that's several states away.

Totally focused on Automated API now that it's to a point where it can actually run.

      1. 1

The whole world is in on the RESTful boat nowadays, so making that easier to serve certainly is a good thing.

Personally my pain point with REST is on the consuming end. Lots of manual work that has to be done whereas with SOAP, it is basically a matter of pointing a code generator to the WSDL... and start to consume. For REST I have to write that code myself.

Oh well.. more work means that it helps to pay the bills I guess ;)

        1. 2

The consumption side is actually also on my roadmap. I aim to provide downloads of sample consumer side code in multiple languages.

I've written hundreds of these manually in my career, and what I see is an opportunity to turn > 60% of those into basically a plug and play operation. Building and integrating with new services should take minutes instead of 10s of hours in most cases.

          1. 1

Exactly. I see no reason why something like WSDL can not exist for REST. At my last REST client side implementation I was already wondering what I could do myself about that.

Let me know once you have it all set up.

            1. 2

You've made it onto a post-it on my desk...
              congratulations, I think :P

I'll try to remember to reach out once I get that developed. It may be sooner than I thought now that I have somewhat of a routine for these generator.
