🤞November: publishing 9 short conversation styled tutorials on the fundamentals of JavaScript programming.

    ✅ Yesterday: Completed landing page - https://shooting-unicorns.com

🍜Today: Grinding on the 9 conversation styled tutorials. Teaching is hard 🙈

    1. 1

That's a hella cool landing page. Made me want to learn how to Indiehack all over again. Can't wait to click on the map/reduce placeholder ;)

http://coreskills.dev is hustling hard. 💪Trying to do an upsell for my very first customer by doing a code review of their candidate (as part of my free trial program).

As for other "achievements" 😅, demoed the product to an enterprise prospect this Thursday. They should reach out with their decision beg. of next week. 🤞

By the end of November I will have improved on last month's revenue numbers by at least 150%.

Yesterday, I followed up with a few folks who responded to a tweet and converted one into a customer who promptly reported a bug that I fixed before we met at 3PM for a demo. Also worked with the curator of markdownguide.org to place imdone on the their tools section. (https://www.markdownguide.org/tools/imdone/)

Today, I'm Working on a few enhancements to imdone.io and following up with new customers and leads.

      Loving that revenue improvement!

    👋

I'm hoping to have the majority of my paintball bookings MVP complete by the end of November.

Yesterday, spent a few hours building basic account management in my app.

Today, I'm gonna work on the equipment management piece for field owners.

    1. 1

What do they use now? Interesting niche

      1. 1

There is really only one serious competitor in the space geared towards paintball (vantora.net). Otherwise, many use generic reservation software.

I'm pretty confident I can execute better than those, so we'll see how it works out.

    End of Nov:
Launch a mini TikTok analytics SaaS I started working on today.

Do you guys use TikTok? What do you think about it?

    Yesterday:
Worked on making my billing infrastructure more robust.

    Today:
Brainstormed some initial flows for the SaaS and planned out the technical execution.

    1. 1

Brilliant idea. They're not gonna disappear anytime soon. They've open the monetization wheels now too.

    2. 1

I don't use TikTok, but I observe my daughter (age 6) and her friends and cousins and how they interact with tech and apps.

TikTok is a "short-term" product in my mind. Snapchat is a bit more robust, but YouTube is what claims her heart.

The problem with these app platforms is their stuck on one or two platforms, instead of branching out to tackle multiple platforms. She can't TikTok on the TV, but she can watch YouTube on the TV. So then her first instinct is not to use TikTok on her device, but YouTube.

      Hopefully, that makes sense.

      1. 2

Huh, that's an interesting insight. At least for me, from the perspective of a kid I see YouTube as an alternative to TV, while platforms like TikTok are targeted towards teens (if I recall correctly 60% of users are in the 14-24 range) as they are more about creating content than consuming it. I get your point though, the more accessible and multi-platform an app is, the better for wider adoption, but it's like that with most products.

        1. 1

I totally get TikTok's appeal but I say "short-term" because teens are more privy to fads and trends than brand loyalty (i.e. Snapchat). It's one of the reasons YouTube now has a disclaimer if your content is "pandering" to children. Cause kids are you next "tobacco users" if you get them early.

I think you should totally do your analytics SaaS thing for TikTok, but think multi-platform in a general sense of the idea. Can it be used for Snapchat, etc.?

          Just my 2centz.

          1. 1

I used to think "short term" too. TikTok came from Musical.ly. When that went down it was traumatic. When the platform shifted policy dramatically and banned a ton of accounts for teens, it was incredibly traumatic. So now I'm not so sure. Until the internet's favorite form of content is not short-form video, TikTok is going to be STRONG. Their content algorithm is super good. It learns what you like very quickly and dials you in so fast it's insane. The dopamine hits are real. If you are not into watching ad nauseum challenges and twerking and makeup stuff, it will stop showing it to you. @BetaPeak my instincts tell me this one is around for awhile.

          2. 1

I'm thinking TikTok-specific at least at first, so I can develop it quick and put it out there... if it picks up and it starts raining money I'll think about it :D

Today: Write one blog post and get at least one referral visit from it.

    Edit: I wrote the post:
"What I learned about email subject lines from sending 1,547,413 emails in one month"

End of november: 3 More sales on my web store
Yesterday: Setup my first 2 Google ads
Today: Watch as the results come in and make some tests.

    1. 1

Looking forward to seeing how they turned out! What type of ad placement did you go with?

      1. 1

Standard google ads, still no results :/

  9. 1

By the end of november I hope to have the homepage of my website coded up in HTML/CSS. In December I will have to learn how to create a WordPress theme from scratch.

  10. 1

End of Nov - Fix the bug crashing my iOS app.

Yesterday - I finished the rough draft of my daily calorie calculator.

Today - Add activity multiple functionality to my daily calorie calculator.

    November Goals

    • Set up a plan to turn Announcr into a SaaS business, and remove the current restriction of needing a physical location, thus supporting online businesses as well.
    • Launch lead capture site with streamlined messaging.

Yesterday I manned a proverbial fire extinguisher all day in a post-launch analysis of a major Alexa skill I've been working on at the day gig. After court the day before I realized how fast time has gone by and that I need to ship ASAP.

Today (and tomorrow) I will not do a dang thing day-job-related. I will take the few hours I have left after some cross-state traveling and work on Announcr. On said car trip, I listened to the routine of Indie podcasts I love and took a bunch of voice memos to help guide the next phase of Announcr.

Tonight I am going to mock up the minimum UI screens I'll need for MVP in Adobe XD and prep to code them up this week. Tomorrow if I have some more time I am going to drag the mockups into Unity and start building them.

Saturday, Sunday, Monday. Every day is a hustling day!

  14. 1

    Yesterday:

Created very simple web scrapers to pull data off of various websites that I need for my product (I really didn't want to manually insert thousands of records myself).

    Today:

Started building my most complicated web scraper, which actually acts as an end user on a website with clicks and everything. I'm hoping this works out because the website I'm using this for has data that will be essential for my product.

EDIT: Complicated web scraper is done. Actually surprised I managed to figure it out.

Putting the final touches on Kampsite as I'm going to launch on ProductHunt tomorrow (read an article that sundays are actually the best days so hoping for some 🤞)

  16. 1

Manually optimizing the performance of a e-commerce site (posting from UpWork) to learn what other ways we can speed up customer's sites for them.

  17. 1

What will you accomplish by end of November?
Having a basic product to use internally. We've been in the research and design stage for a side product we are working on. Want to actually begin coding next week!

What did you do yesterday to work toward your goal?
I wrapped up a few mockups for the last team design review before we start coding.

    What will you do today?
Work on some marketing and research. I might start working on a copy for a more formal landing page. Right now just have an Upcoming Product Hunt page (https://www.producthunt.com/upcoming/flection)
