We often mistake capability for meaning.
Just because AI can generate recipes doesn’t mean it understands why someone cooks.
It doesn’t know you had a rough day. That you’re trying to impress a date. You know how to cook or not.
These are human contexts — and they’re irreplaceable.
When I built Yumzy, I made a deliberate choice:
• Not to just generate recipes.
• But to put human needs in front of everything.
Our users don’t fall in love with GPT’s language model. They fall in love with the feeling of being guided. The confidence to explore the kitchen. The sense of creativity, even if they didn’t know how to cook before.
AI isn’t magic. It’s a tool.
The real innovation comes when we align AI with human psychology, rituals, and lived experience.
If we ignore that — and focus only on capabilities — we’ll end up building soulless products that might scale, but won’t stick.
I believe the next wave of truly impactful AI applications will emerge from teams and founders who:
• Think like designers and psychologists, not just engineers.
• See humans as the core system, and AI as the optimizer — not the other way around.
If anyone else here is building with this mindset, would love to trade notes.
I am building Yumzy, AI powered cooking assistant and always keeping this philosophy to enhance it every day. Would love your thoughts.
