Why are indie hackers obsessed with Product Hunt?
Hi All,
Joined the forum a couple of weeks ago to get back into the startup community. A lot of fellow builders are targeting/focusing/tweaking their products/marketing on the product hunt launch. How important is it to do that? Would love to hear about success/failures about this launch strategy. Any alternative launch strategy that worked for you?
Pros:
- Finding influencer that market your product for free. Helps with initial traction!
Cons:
- Pitching to critics who are not your customers. Most probably leads to depleted morale.
Feel free to add various pros/cons for various launch strategies. Not just product hunt.
"How important is it to do that?"
for me, I have launched 4 products on product hunt, none of that could get up to 10 vote, super low isn't it? lol. now, product hunt is not my game anymore, off course I will launch my product to product hunt, but it's not my priority. because for me, my priority right now is to validate my product jobs to be done and get real paying user
