Why did my Product Hunt launch crash and burn?

Dear IH community,

Since I got such brilliant feedback on our last Product Hunt launch post, Im reaching out to you again for feedback and advice on what do better for the next time.

We did a PH launch about 2 weeks ago which went absolutely brilliantly. Having developed a new sub-product for our platform we launched this morning expecting the same great results. Doh - total fail, crash, burn and disaster.

Our network of friends active on PH can be counted on one hand, so it's not that we got them all to upvote us the last time, but we seem to have been lucky with the algoritm even though we posted at 2pm.

So, what are you own experiences with this? Anyone else in the same situation? And I would of course love to get some feedback on what is not so brilliant about our launch post.
