Why everyone should use Quora for marketing purposes

Recently, I have started looking quora as a marketing platform. I have seen numerous posts where marketers, bloggers are using the platform to drive FREE traffic to their site, generate leads by using answering targeted questions on Quora.

So the general question arises -

What makes Quora a great platform for marketing ?

  • It has 300M monthly active users
  • It's FREE and all you have to do is answers targeted questions
  • Google loves quora - most of the answers are placed directly in Google quick answers box
  • You can establish a brand
  • You can reach potential customers and generate a lot of leads
  • Moreover, top quora answers earn mentions in top publications like Forbes.com

So my questions to you guys are -

  1. Do you use Quora for marketing purposes? If yes, what's your strategy?
  2. There are millions of questions, so how do you pick the right questions to answer?
  3. Did you have any success using the platform for lead generation OR for driving traffic to your site?
  1. 4

Yes - Quora is bringing ~30% traffic for my passion project - Zlides

    1. I’ve created a weekly routine to handpick and reply a few questions requested by user or topics I'm following.

    2. I only answer questions that are directly relevant to my business, hence presentation design, pitch deck etc

    3. Yes, not only driving traffic. I also managed to practice my writing skills and build connections with people around the same pillar.

      That's great!
      Quick questions -

      1. In general how much time do you spend handpicking the questions ?
      2. Whats the criteria you use to select those questions? eg: qs followers, upvotes, no of answers?
      1. 1
        1. Not long. Just a friction of time. I’m receiving answer request regularly so it won’t take much time.

        2. It’s sort of a gut feeling. But this is what I usually do:

        • Look up a few existing answers and see if there’s a room for me to provide my perspective
        • If the question included the keywords I’m using for my website or other content, I’ve a higher likelihood to reply.

Feel free to check out my answers on Quora :)

I haven't used Quora yet for promotion, but I will definitely give it a try. Thanks!

When replying in Quora (or any platform), make sure our response answers the question being asked. Nowadays there are more and more replies that simply trying to promote product/service/link to website without answering OP questions, which annoys genuine Quora users. Answering OP question is not only helpful, but also increase creditability of the product we are trying to promote. Just my two cents.

      Exactly spot on!
On Quora, users are genuinely looking for people to solve their queries and simply slapping the answers with links to your service/blogs etc won't work.
As far as my research goes, only the well written and thorough answers get to the top of the list and gets a lot of views - which in turn drives a lot of traffic.
I have seen people driving 1000's of leads to their website - just by writing thorough answers.
It also helps to build a great creditability in the market you're targeting.

Listened to someone on a podcast who did this - it seemed like a good idea for sure.

      Same here.
Even I was skeptical about the approach, but after researching a bit about it , I have got to know that its a valuable channel to explore to drive FREE traffic to site.

I was experimenting with Reddit recently to promote my Sweet Hue app but now that you mention Quora I think I'll give it a try 🤔

Sure, let us know you're results.

Honestly I feel like Quora has become a spam pool, and stopped using it a long time ago. Have you actually produced good results from this? I have to wonder what kind of person is still using Quora.

    1. 1

I kind of partially agree to this.
I have seen people spamming the platform by promoting themselves aggressively, but recently Quora had started blocking people who just post links in their answers.
But considering its one of the largest Q/A platform in the world with people from almost all markets
flocking together, it becomes a valuable marketing channel to promote your content.

@planmoretrips Echo that! You can also help Quora improve by reporting spamming questions. It also helps the platform identify your's and other's credibility.
