Why Facebook is better than Twitter for small Indie Hackers! (My experiment with both)

My journey with https://copytonotion.com started like 2 months ago.

Sharing my progress and building in public on twitter didn't help me that much I gained like 10 users and for me writing a simple tweet takes a lot of energy as I am not used to it.

Then I decided to try another route. as Facebook has already groups related to my product with thousands of members, I would need just to find a way to attract their attention.

So here's what I did:

• First I look for all Facebook groups that are related to my SaaS and joined them.
• Then before posting I make sure to read their rules.
• I check for posts like what I want to make. Because sometimes you find a rule with "No Self-Promotion" but you'll find so many self-promoting posts and no one blocks them 🤷‍♂️
• Then I tried two kind of posts:
  1. one where I write about Copy To Notion and explain what it does in few lines and share the link to it. Tried it on two small groups and these ones gets 3 or 4 likes which leads to like 3 users.
  2. another one which is so effective, is where I ask questions like: "Are you interested in....?" and highilight two main features + a small video demo of one feature, and then the famous "If you are interested reply with 👋, and I send it to you!".
     Tried this one on two groups and it got me to 120 users in just few days. I think this kind of posts works better because people like to have things they don't access to as opposed to sharing the link on the post directly.
     with this method you also get the benefit of some instant feedback because you already sent them a DM.
     For this to work on twitter you need to have at least some few hundereds of followers and DMs are closed by default as opposed to Facebook.

Anyway, on twitter I have never got a feedback. if it wasn't for Facebook I wouldn't have catched a bug that's happening to only some users which prevents them from loging-in.
