Before you go to the comment section and blast me lol, I'm a blockchain maxi but also a realist who looks at web3 from both sides of the coin.
with that said, Lets get to the post
Play-to-Earn (P2E) is pretty much self explanatory , you play the Game to Earn money. Simple and straight to the point unlike most web3 terms
Gamers hate this Model of the marketization of games and taking the FUN out of the games. Remember games are supposed to be FUN not another NFT Marketplace.
Adding the NFT Marketplace concept to a game attracts Speculators who will buy up the NFTs then look to profit enormously from them. A good example is Axie Infinity, since the games surge in popularity the average person can't play the game and have fun anymore cause now everyone who plays is out there to make some money by flipping their NFTs.
A good "experiment" on how messed up NFT Games are is to Search for videos about Axie Infinity then search for a video about Fortnite
The difference in content is massive, One just beats the point about how to make as much money from the game as possible without touching once on how to Enjoy the game, The other is just a Gamer Having Fun
Instead of having P2E games, Lets have Games where the gamers own their Characters and can transfer them to other similar games via and Integration. No need to buy or Sell the Skin, just move the skin to another game if you want.
With this no need to have a crypto wallet, just send the skin and it appears in your game, simple no need for any other thing.
Now i know the common argument of "game mechanics" which i completely understand, i'm not saying take your fortnite skin to Minecraft but take your FIFA game Ronaldo to PES.
They are two games with similar mechanics.
Hope every P2E Game makers STOP and think about this: Having Fun is the essence of Games, not making money.
