I’m less an “indie-hacker” and more just a curious dude who loves to learn. Been lurking here for years now, trying to post a bit more.
IH is like a toy store to me. You never know what shiny new thing you may see, what new innovative platform or tool I may find to screw around with for an hour, or just see reading up on what folks are doing.

I came to meet people like me. Being a solo bootstrapper can get incredibly lonely. Most people around me burn either VC money or EU money, it's difficult to find someone who can even relate to the problems I have.

I haven't published much to it though. Simply because I'm not quite sure what exactly I should/want to post to the channel but something is better than nothing.
good stuff, i checked out your channel, seems like a good idea to make a football game. I would recommend you to start uploading even a 2 minute video at least once per week ... to keep going..

I joined Indie Hackers to learn how a community works, and also to promote a product I've been working for a while (you can check it out if you want http://pauapp.com), but most important to learn from other people how to growth a product and talk to users.
Oh, I've come across this before I guess, on product hunt? Good stuff.
One thing about plugins that push and pull data sets, is you need your response times in single digit ms, if you can crack that then you probably have a good product.
Yeah!, I "accidentally" Launch my product into PH a week ago. The product store the user data on local storage, so te content is displayed super fast, and well, the redirection depends on the user's internet connection
yahoo was a leading search engine, it lost to google, among one of the major factors being the faster result optimization/algo. Keep that in mind, its a deal breaker.. Good luck

Honestly... not sure, I'm new to launch a product and communities, but I'm very interesting on this, that's why I create this product!
how would you like to be engaged if you were the user of your own product?
maybe by a user who is already using it, sort of invitation. I'm working on a new feature where where if a user wants to use it, he must send a invite to a new user, its just a basic mail for now

I joined Indie Hackers to be part of a community of like minded builders who want to create new things. I also want to share my learnings as I build Startup Sanctuary and help as many others as possible. I think the Indie Hackers community has a great ability to share insights and help one another learn. It is a testament to @csallen and all at IH for fostering such an open and helpful platform.
I'd drink to that.

Initially, I wanted to get deeper into the startup community and promote my product. I have since realized that IndieHackers mostly can't use my product but I learn so much from the community, I decided to stay. :)
good to know you're getting something from the community. Also, it's fine to share about your product as an informative but to the point rather than from a selling point of view. Many non-buyers would still read, helps in brand awareness. :D

Technical people are the true creators and builders, and that I respect above making business models work... notably in 2020.

#nocodemovement... more folks are building full businesses without knowing software engineering themselves! this is great!I joined a couple years ago. I was using r/entrepreneurship to learn what it takes to build a business, and I wasn't learning, but luckily came across a link to IH (or maybe heard about the podcast first).
Learning: Still slow, I feel like I'm getting somewhere, but still far from wherever that is :)
I have tried promoting past "products" here, but it was never my primary goal. And I don't believe IHers are a good target market. If others are like me, they're cheap (I mean frugal haha), and don't need to be spending $20/mo on every other app to help them market, etc. I do want to promote free products here, with no expectation of immediate monetary gain :)
I don't think I get a ton of value (monetary, I mean) out of posting/helping here, but I still have fun with it. And I learn more than I give.
The most value I've gotten out of IH was learning about my local San Diego IH community - that small group with varied skills is amazing!

We had semi-regular meetups. With COVID we've had a couple video chats. But we have a slack group and we chat there quite a bit.
It's fun, and pretty much every question gets answered because we all have different skills :)

Meetups we would do every month or two. Slack chatting is pretty regular.
Members are regulars.

I don't think there's a plan. We've been using it for a year+ and it's a great way for us to stay connected and help each other. Working really well as-is :)
are you going to pay for it when it reaches the upper-bound?
I think we've reached it already, and are ok with the free plan with older messages lost.
When Meetup started charging, we talked about how it would be cheap with all of us pitching in, but ditched it for meetingplace.io instead ;-)
We reached the max depth for IH haha
@karanveer no particular reason. Someone setup slack after the first meetup, and we've stuck with it since.
It does seem helpful, people occasionally use polls, but sub-threads are nice, organized channels are nice, etc.
glad you both are getting along, also, why haven't you replaced slack with discord if you are going to use free version of slack anyways? Also, even if you do, why pay for slack when you get most features with discord?

be sure to give back your xp too, even if you think it is nothing 'cool' or 'enticing enough'...trust me, it helps, because more often than not, many people go through a similar phased pattern.
