Why I Built an AI Agent to Do My Homework (And Why ChatGPT Wasn't Enough)

Being a student in 2026 is exhausting.

I had three essays due in one week, plus a presentation for my business class. I tried using ChatGPT, but the results were… generic. It made up citations, ignored the specific requirements in my professor’s PDF brief, and sounded like a robot.

I realized I didn’t need a chatbot; I needed a workflow.

So, I spent my weekends building Verla (https://verla.io).

What makes Verla different?

Verla isn’t just a text box. It’s a multi-agent system designed specifically for academic work:

  1. Context Aware: You can upload your assignment briefs (PDF/Docx), and Verla reads them to understand the grading criteria.

  2. Full Deliverables: It generates complete essays and ready-to-present slides, not just chat bubbles.

  3. Real Citations: It handles APA, MLA, and Chicago formats automatically, verifying references.

  4. Stealth Mode: It includes an AI humanizer to ensure the tone is natural and bypasses detection.

I built this with Next.js and Tailwind, and it’s finally live.

If you are a student drowning in coursework, give it a try. It’s the tool I wish I had freshman year.
