Why I built Grabvex instead of using existing download tools

After trying dozens of media download websites, I noticed the same problems everywhere: intrusive ads, fake download buttons, slow loading times, and limited support for different platforms.

So I decided to build Grabvex.

The goal is simple: paste a link, get the original-quality file, and leave—without sign-ups, unnecessary redirects, or clutter.

I'm currently working on support for Pinterest, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X (Twitter), Facebook, and Threads, with a strong focus on speed, privacy, and a clean user experience.

There are still many features and improvements ahead, but the first version is already live, and I'd genuinely appreciate feedback from the Indie Hackers community.

I'm especially interested in hearing:

  • What download tools do you currently use?

  • What's the biggest frustration you've experienced with them?

  • If you tried Grabvex, what would you improve first?

Looking forward to your thoughts and suggestions. Every piece of feedback helps shape the product.
