Why I Built MoonCV

Hi everyone! I'm Chris, the founder of MoonCV.

I built MoonCV because I was tired of the way job searching works today.

You open LinkedIn. Then another job board. Then company career pages. Then a few more sites. You filter, scroll, open job posts, read descriptions, save links...

The next day, you do it all over again because new jobs have been posted.

That's why I built MoonCV.

Instead of checking dozens of job boards every day, MoonCV does it for you.

Tell MoonCV what jobs you're looking for, and it continuously checks newly published jobs against your criteria, so you only see the opportunities that match what you're looking for.

MoonCV is constantly collecting newly published jobs from major job boards like LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, Workable, and Y Combinator, as well as thousands of company career pages. As of today, it gives you access to more than 210 million job listings.

When you find a job you like, MoonCV can tailor your resume to the posting and generate a matching cover letter with AI, helping you spend less time on repetitive work and more time applying.

I'd love to hear what you think!

I really like how straightforward the problem is. Checking a bunch of job boards every day gets old quickly, especially when most of what you see isn’t relevant.

The matching part feels like the interesting challenge. More listings are useful, but getting the right ones in front of someone without making them dig through another huge feed is probably where a lot of the value comes from.

The resume tailoring is a nice addition too. It turns the process from just finding jobs into actually helping with the application itself.

You’ve built quite a lot around the job-search workflow already.

What are you seeing from actual users so far that has surprised you most compared with what you expected when you started building MoonCV?

      Thanks, Aryan!

The biggest surprise was that people were more frustrated by searching for jobs than writing their resumes.

I expected the resume builder to be the main reason people used MoonCV. Instead, I kept hearing the same complaint. Checking multiple job boards and company career pages every day takes too much time. That feedback is what pushed me to make automated job search the core of MoonCV.

That’s helpful context. The gap between the problem you initially built around and the one users actually cared about is an interesting transition point.

I’d like to continue the conversation outside the thread. What’s the best email to reach you on?
