Hey IndieHackersđź‘‹
Before building ProductDescAI, I watched my dad stay up late rewriting product descriptions — sometimes till 2AM.
He runs a small e-commerce store and hated that part of the job.
Copying competitors, tweaking SEO, hoping it sounds original... every night, same struggle.
So I built a tool just for him.
A tool that generates 3 SEO-optimized descriptions (short, medium, long) in under 30 seconds.
He tried it out, and genuinely liked it.
Said it was the first time in a while he didn’t dread writing product copy.
That’s when I realized:
If this could help him, it could help a lot of sellers.
⚡️ How it works:
Type your product name, key features, and tone
Upload an image
Click generate and get 3 ready-to-use versions
No prompt engineering. No rewriting.
Just clean, converting copy built for e-commerce.
⏳ Every hour spent writing descriptions is an hour you're not:
Finding better products
Running better ads
Growing your store
That’s the real cost.
Let ProductDescAI give you that time back đź’Ľ

Would love to hear your thoughts:
What part of writing product descriptions do you struggle with most?
curious do you see this becoming a full SaaS platform down the line, or will it stay dev-focused?
Thanks! It’s already a full SaaS platform aimed at solo sellers and small e-commerce teams. The focus is on simplicity and speed, so the goal is to keep improving the user-facing experience rather than turning it into a developer tool.
is there anyway i could contact you?
Yes! support@productdescai.com or u can message me in X -> @abuships
thanks ! just emailed you
This is brilliant — I really liked the story and the problem you're solving!
I recently built a backend API for e-commerce as well (Node.js + PostgreSQL + Docker), so I completely understand the value of automation for store owners.
I'm curious — how do you handle customization for different product tones or niches?
Thanks so much, really appreciate that! 🙏
We handle customization mainly through the tone selector and the keywords/features you provide.
Right now, users can choose from 5 tones (e.g. professional, casual, etc.), and based on those + product details, the model adjusts accordingly.
Curious, what kind of niche are you focused on in your API?
This is awesome. love that it started with helping your dad. How do you handle niche or unusual products where there might not be much to go off of?
Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it.
Yes, it all started with the idea of helping my dad. I'm glad the story resonated with you.
For niche or unusual products, we focus on making the most out of what the user provides. Clear product features, tone selection, and now our new image upload feature play a big role in that.
When users upload a product photo, the model uses visual details like design, color to generate richer descriptions and we also provide sufficient space for users to enter important information.
sounds interesting! you will make it
Hey Abu đź‘‹
Really love this – it’s always inspiring when tools come from real personal pain points. The fact that your dad actually uses it and feels relief is the best validation you can ask for.
Since you’re building for e-commerce sellers, I thought I’d share something I’ve been working on too, might interest you or your users down the line:
SmartBoost AI – a plug-and-play tool that gives personalized GPT-4o-powered product recommendations based on:
customer behavior
what's in their cart
and real-time store activity
It also has:
A/B testing for prompt performance
analytics export
and super easy setup (can be running in minutes)
Basically: a lightweight engine to help stores increase AOV and conversions without having to hire devs or write prompts manually.
I'm currently looking for e-com founders / indiehackers who might want to buy it or even partner.
Would love to hear what you think – and again, ProductDescAI is 🔥
