I became a "researcher-by-necessity" after a persistent health issue sent me down the off-label uses rabbit hole. Methylene blue showed promise in studies - mitochondrial support, cognitive benefits, backed by proper research.
Then I tried to actually dose it.
Academic papers gave mg/kg bodyweight ranges. I had powder. The studies were for researchers, not someone holding a vial asking "how much do I dissolve in water?" Medical sites covered IV protocols - irrelevant for oral use. Forums had conflicting advice. Supplement labels just said "follow instructions" whilst ignoring bodyweight entirely.
Converting research to practice required multiple steps: create a solution of specific strength, convert mg/kg ranges to actual mg amounts for my weight, calculate liquid doses in millilitres. Each step invited errors. I spent days second-guessing calculations for something that should've been straightforward.
So I built calculators to help myself dose safely.
Then I realised - this isn't just methylene blue. It's NAD+ precursors, senolytics, antiparasitics. Promising research, impossible translation. People either guess based on forums or give up entirely. I wrote about this research-to-practice gap for Longevity.Technology:

Protocol Buddy now has 60+ protocols with weight-based calculators, peer-reviewed research citations, and safety information. Web app and Android app.
Free for 3 protocols. £9.99/month for full access.
Built this solo whilst dealing with my own health issues. It's one attempt to bridge the research-to-practice gap.
What longevity protocols are you struggling to translate into actual doses?
