Why I Built Synapse: Medical Education Deserves Better AI

I'm Mohammed, a Year 4 medical student in Istanbul. Last year, I tried using NotebookLM to study medicine, great AI, but it broke on medical PDFs, hallucinated on drug interactions, and couldn't track what I actually needed to learn. I realized the problem: AI tooling for medical education doesn't exist. Everything is either generic or broken.

So I built Synapse.

The Problem

  • Study tools ignore AI entirely (flashcards and PDFs, stuck in 2010)

  • Generic AI breaks on medical images and hallucinations clinical details

  • No one tracks what you've actually mastered or forgotten

  • Reinforcement learning isn't built into the learning experience

What We Built

  • Medical-grade OCR + AI tutor, understands medical images, doesn't hallucinate

  • Auto-generated MCQs, from your study materials, actually accurate

  • Concept mastery tracking, knows what you've forgotten (spaced repetition)

  • Reinforcement sessions, AI tailors practice to weak areas

  • Flashcards, summaries, progress tracking, everything you need in one platform

Built in ~4 months with Claude + Cursor. Live with early organic users.

Where We Are

  • Bootstrapped and live (subscription model)

  • Early users seeing their MCQ accuracy jump from 28% → 80% post-reinforcement

  • Planning to expand across MENA region

We're Hiring

I'm a solo founder wearing every hat right now. I'm looking for a technical cofounder to own the codebase and lead product development. In exchange for significant equity (and eventual salary once we're profitable).

If you're an engineer passionate about ed-tech, and want to build something that matters, let's talk.

Also hiring growth people (commission-first model) who want to own customer acquisition.

What's Next

  • Scale the founding team (technical cofounder + growth leads)

  • Institution partnerships (Turkish medical schools + GCC universities)

  • Building Synapse into the standard infrastructure for medical education globally

If you're a med student, educator, interested in ed-tech, or a technical cofounder ready to build something big, I'd love to hear from you.

We're just getting started.
