Why I built Task Canvas

I’m always working on multiple projects at once, and checklists are how I keep track of everything.

For years, that meant notebooks full of lists.
The problem is that they don’t scale; you end up flipping through pages just to remember what you were doing.

I tried tools like Notion and Microsoft To Do, but they never really fit how I think. Everything felt hidden behind tabs or folders.

What I actually wanted was simple:

a way to see all my task lists at once.

The idea

So I built TaskCanvas.

It’s a canvas-based task app where you can:

  • create multiple task lists

  • place them anywhere on a whiteboard

  • organize visually instead of in rigid layouts

Everything stays visible instead of getting buried in folders or tabs.

Key features

  • Drag and drop lists anywhere

  • Group by category

  • Hide, show, and archive lists

  • Nested tasks with reordering

  • Notes, priorities, and due dates

  • Keyboard-first workflow

  • Recurring Tasks

Local-first (on purpose)

I wanted zero friction.

  • No signup

  • No cost

  • Runs in your browser

  • Your data stays on your device

What’s next

I’m working on:

  • Cloud sync

  • Reminders

Those will be optional paid features since they require backend + infrastructure.
