Why I’m building Transkrib
Long-form video contains a lot of value, but turning it into reusable content is still too slow for many creators.
A single webinar, podcast, interview, lesson, or product demo can contain a full transcript, useful summaries, subtitle/SRT material, short-form post ideas, and clips or highlights for social media.
But extracting all of this manually takes too much time.
That’s why I started building Transkrib.
The first version is a Telegram bot: upload a video, get a transcript, summary, subtitles/SRT, and content drafts back.
I started with Telegram because it keeps the workflow simple and familiar. I’m also working on a desktop app for creators who want more control over video processing and content repurposing.
I’d love feedback from indie hackers who work with video, podcasts, education, marketing, or creator tools.
What would be most useful to improve first?
1. Better transcript quality
2. Subtitle/SRT export
3. Automatic clips
4. Better summaries
5. Export to Google Docs / Notion
I like that you're starting with the workflow instead of another AI feature list. One long-form video already contains multiple pieces of content—the bottleneck is turning them into usable assets quickly. I'd probably prioritize clips after transcript quality, since that's where creators save the most time.
Thanks, Aryan. That is exactly the workflow we are trying to focus on.
A long video usually already contains several useful content pieces, but finding and turning them into something usable takes too much manual work.
We are currently prioritizing transcript quality first, because everything else depends on it. After that, clips and highlights are probably the next most important step.
Do you think creators would prefer fully automatic clips, or a workflow where the tool suggests moments and the creator approves/edits them?
I think the more interesting question is actually sitting underneath that one.
Whether creators choose fully automatic clips or approval workflows depends on a strategic decision that becomes much more significant as the product evolves, and I don't think I can do the reasoning behind it justice in a thread.
Happy to explain what I mean if it's useful. What's the best email to reach you?
