Why I’m fighting "Robotic" AI names with Heritage & Etymology

Hey Indie Hackers!

I’m building Find Chinese Name (https://findchinesename.com).

The motivation is simple: Most people today turn to Google Translate or generic AI when they need a Chinese name. The result? Names that are phonetically clunky, culturally hollow, or—in the worst cases—totally meaningless to native speakers.

I believe a name is a foundation of identity. It should be rooted in poetry, etymology, and heritage, not just a soulless algorithm.

What we are building:

Beyond just "generating" names, we provide deep-dive etymological insights and cultural analysis for every character. Whether it’s for a newborn or a global brand, we ensure the identity is phonetically beautiful and culturally profound.

The Tech Stack:

Next.js 15 (App Router) for the core engine.

Prisma + Postgres for robust data handling.

next-intl to support our global audience (currently in EN, FR, and DE).

We are currently in the Bootstrapped stage and focusing on building the most authentic naming directory on the web.
