Why I’m leaning into AI in 2022 (and why you shouldn’t be skeptical of it!)

In 2014, I had the opportunity to buy Bitcoin and Ethereum. For reference, Ethereum sold for under a dollar and Bitcoin was a few hundred dollars.

Why did I decide against purchasing what would have been a life changing amount of money? I listened to large public figures, negative public opinion, watched large companies take a stand against it, and my social group said how it would never be a thing.

You know what else people thought was a fad? Cell phones, airplanes, personal computers, cars, and oh yeah… The lightbulb!

The most successful people don’t go along with the herd though. They take risks. They are ahead of the trends. They have been steering the wagon long before the bandwagon jumps on.

Lately, people are saying that AI will never be a thing because Google said it is against their guidelines . But Google already has AI!.

Large companies scoff until they jump on the bandwagon.

In 2022, I’ve decided to go against popular opinion. I’m tired of scoffing at things because I’m listening to public opinion. Instead, I’m trying to be ahead of the curve and lean into the things that frighten me. To take risks instead of reservations.

In the last month, I built SimpleCopy and I’ve been astonished at the quality of the results. I’m using it to speed up my own content creation and it’s transformed how I create content. Before I built my own app, I hadn’t written a blog post in months.

I would have been the first to say AI generated content was a ridiculous idea. Now, I’m creating emails, blog posts, and help documentation in minutes with my own tool.

Indie Hackers have the advantage because we can move fast

Large companies move slowly. It takes weeks to approve showing a banner on a homepage. It can take months to approve legal copy for a new page. They don’t have the ability to move quickly anymore.

Employees are 9-5. You’re 9-9 as an indie hacker.

Indie hackers also have the first mover advantage

It’s still early days of Blockchain, and AI. It’s easy to scoff now and think it will be a trend. But is that your opinion or is that public opinion? If you haven’t tried and seen the results of AI yourself, you can’t really form an opinion.

If you lean into the unknown before the bandwagon jumps on, you could find a truly exciting opportunity.

And hey, at worst, you’ll have some exciting new skills if you need to get a 9-5 job again! ;D
