Companies say they want impressive projects and real proof of ability, but my $200k+ Degree program only gives me very basic assignments.
Even outside school, it’s surprisingly hard to:
figure out what projects are actually worth building
stay consistent long enough to finish them
find collaborators
get feedback
build something that feels “real”
I noticed a lot of people end up stuck in tutorial loops instead of building portfolio-worthy work. When I also realized my school (again $200k+ degree) wasn't teaching me how to use AI effectively, I had enough...
So, I started building ASTAR:
a multiplayer project-based learning platform where people can collaborate on AI/software/data projects with AI assistance and build proof of skill together.
Still early, but I’m curious to gain different perspectives and make this a platform people can enjoy, and hopefully help get people hired
What’s been the hardest part about building skills/projects that actually help with opportunities/jobs?
