Why I'm building a newsletter to help support my new family

Hello everyone, I want to start with some backstory as to why I'm making a newsletter about Real Estate Investing. ever since I was a kid, I had something of a dream. I didn't want to be an astronaut, a professional athlete, or an actor. I wanted to be a landlord. I don't know why I was so weird, but for some reason I've always wanted to own rental properties. The thought of owning something and managing it for other people was always so appealing to me.

Fast forward 25 years or so, and it finally happened! I own a 3 family house with my wife and two new children -- 6 month old twins! We rent out the first floor and live on the top two, and its been amazing so far. There is definitely a lot of work involved with being a landlord, but its totally worth it.

Another thing happened in those 25 years: I became a professional programmer, and I love what I do. I really enjoy solving problems, building products, and growing companies. I have my own consultancy for web development, and I work on multiple side projects because I love creating things that hopefully can help support my family and I.

I think that's enough backstory, now lets get to the reason I'm building this newsletter for Real Estate Investment. The reason is twofold:

1. There aren't many good aggregate newsletters for Real Estate Investing or Property Management. As a programmer I've enjoyed countless aggregate newsletters for the frameworks and languages I work with. I find the Real Estate world is really lacking in a good aggregate newsletter (something that combines news from good websites, and submissions into one newsletter).
2. I am working on a product that will inevitably help and be helped by this newsletter. I'm slowly building a Real Estate / Rental Property issue tracking system for landlords and tenants. This issue tracker will benefit greatly from a great community that can be developed through this newsletter.

Currently the newsletter is live at https://theweeklydigs.com. Its only going to get better form here on out. We already scrape multiple sites (including reddit) to find fun and informative posts, and articles. Every week we gather these articles and send them to our email list. I have already learned a lot more about Real Estate and Property Management myself through this process. It's been really fun!
