Why is AI not in the headlines anymore?
Have you noticed the AI buzz has slowed down quite a bit? People aren’t talking about it as much as they used to.
There’s a slowdown in people using AI tools, including ChatGPT. The AI Discord groups are not as busy as before.
What happened? Is the AI miracle over?
Far from it. This was expected and it is a good thing. AI is now on the progressional growth path, where it shifts into ‘daily use’ from ‘hot trend’.
The usage is slowing down not because people don’t find value in AI, but because they are now using it when they need to and not because it exists.
AI is not a product by itself. It’s an upgrade.
The more I use AI, the more I realize that general purpose AI tools like ChatGPT are not the rule, they are the exception.
The true value of AI is using it to improve behavior in thousands of different ways, in thousands of different applications.
Over the next decade (I think it’s the decade of AI), we will see new products, new tools and new applications powered by AI.
I had a case in point with Tuberank Jeet. It was a useful tool before but when I added AI to it, it became invincible. It made writing YouTube SEO optimization so ridiculously easy that I find the earlier workflow unbearably clumsy.
That’s what AI is supposed to do. Make everything better.
General purpose AI tools are not good enough.
Sure, I could have potentially gone to ChatGPT, written 20 different kinds of prompts and scoured through them to get the data that I get from Tuberank Jeet, but that is no real time savings. It’s the same amount of work done in a different way.
ChatGPT is not the ultimate AI product.
More and more, AI is going to be invisible just like computing is. It’s there and you use it, but you don’t buy it. It just enables everything else.

I find it doing more bad than good.
It's value is only for people who are already skilled like programmers or lawyers, who can verify that content it produces is 100% correct.
It's useless or even bad for all the rest.

Nice topic. I think both will happen, new AI products will emerge, and existing products will be powered by AI. New products will be developed in areas where AI is most powerful and there is sufficient data. Additionally, large, complicated products will integrate AI to enhance their capabilities.
Love this topic, had not thought of it through this lens. I agree Sahri. I do think that in the long term (3-5 year) it will be more heavily integrated into current products, than emerging products.

I find this news both disappointing and relaxing. Disappointing - because it slows down the movement towards the technological future. Relaxing - because, as a successful user of AI tools, I see less competition around me.

Maybe it's a bit like "Unbundling Craigslist"?
Ofc Craigslist is not a tech enabler but I see some similarity (general purpose vs single purpose).
So I think single purpose products would fully integrate into our daily workflow (better UX) while the general purpose tools would still exist to continue pushing the boundaries uncovering more opportunities to exploit.
That's an interesting allegory, but right. Out of Craigslist we had so many interesting ideas emerge...
I think of AI as being even broader than Craigslist.
What about it being something like the invention of the Internet? That's a turning point important enough to compare what's going to happen with AI.
