Why is it so difficult to build culture?
Why is it so difficult to convince people of something you know that works?
I often see people struggling with things I've struggled with ten years before but I still can't get them with the correct mindset or see a change in attitude.
It looks like people enjoy experiencing failure on their own only to get to the same conclusions you've been advising before.
What's your experience on building culture? What are your main struggles? What is effective?
“The way we do things around here” is a good start.
It’s traditional, it’s worked ok so far, it has less risk involved. Change is always difficult in a company. It just takes time. What you need is a change formula that has always been true for me: Dissatisfaction x Vision x First steps towards change > Resistance to change. However, if any of the first three = 0, then no change will happen.
RE: Why is it so difficult to convince people of something you know that works?
This is an interesting question, and I believe it's one of the main reasons so many experienced founders started marketing and building their audience before launching their products.
Convincing friends, family, and co-workers with who you have already built trust and creditability are much easier than a complete stranger on the internet.
Or perhaps it's not painful enough for other people to stop making the same mistakes, e.g., not exercising or not eating healthy is bad, but not really that big of a deal at the moment.
