Why is no one building an aggregator website?
In 2019 I decided to learn React and created an aggregator website (for saving and sharing my own links grouped by topic) as a side project and open sourced.
Every week I get organic visitors looking for some topic, but honestly, I'm not doing much and just using the site for myself... but maybe I'm missing some opportunity?
I'm doing something similar with my site veryLA.io - an aggregator for the city I live in.
I get about 30-100 organic visitors a day after launching a month ago. My goal is to build it up until I can sell ads to local businesses. I'm not sure if it will work, but its worth a shot and all it cost me was the domain name.
The site looks great! Maybe you could enable a newsletter or collect emails to convert visitors into an audience.
Thanks! I've thought about that - although my whole philosophy with this website has been to minimize common web bullshit - no comment section with people bickering, no database to manage, no UI that attacks its visitors, attempt limit noise and attention grabbing features.
Collecting email kinda falls into the bullshit category, for me personally. The whole site will be an interesting experiment - trying to monetize a site and keep some integrity about it.
I’ve seen a lot of people sell airtable and notion aggregators. You can just try it.
If you keep it free, you can always advertise your next project on it.
