Why is the Worst part of Being a Musician is Dealing with other Musicians?
Like they are really "pro" on what they do?
Is our job rocket science? 😅
It's just like spending time on live events as a DJ... you are transitioning to another dj then suddenly plays a bpm too far from what you discussed.. 🤣
They don't all do all of it. but most do at least some of it.
why are we like this?
People that like the IDEA of being in a band but not actually being in a band.
You cannot unsee it once you read it. the one who shows up to one rehearsal, disappears for three weeks, comes back with zero excuses and maximum opinions about the setlist. we all know this person.
Someone pointed out it extends to partners too. dated someone who loved saying "my boyfriend is in a reasonably popular local band" but got mad every time there was an actual gig 😂 wanted the status. hated the reality.
One person quit playing in bands entirely because their spouse would lose it if rehearsal went longer than two hours. guess what that does to a musician long term.
Then there's the ego thing. musicians are self-centered by nature and kind of have to be. Mainly because they are creators.. And they are thriving out of their own creations...
But the fairest take — everyone has different goals at different times. some people have 40 hour jobs and just want to make music with kind people. keeping a cohesive band together long term is practically an act of God. 🎵
