Why LaunchNest LN Is Built Around Product Quality, Not Audience Size

Over the past few days, I’ve received some really thoughtful feedback about LaunchNest LN.

A few people asked an important question:

How do you keep a product discovery platform from becoming another popularity contest where the biggest audience wins?

That is actually one of the main reasons I built LaunchNest LN differently.

There are thousands of launch and product discovery platforms already. I didn’t want to build another platform where having a large audience, lots of followers, or the ability to generate votes automatically gives you the biggest advantage.

For LaunchNest LN, audience size is not supposed to be the main factor.

The focus is much more on the product itself — its usefulness, quality, relevance, and the overall experience it provides.

In simple terms, I want product quality to matter far more than account size.

That’s also why you can already see smaller and newer products being featured. I don’t want the Featured section to become a place where only established brands or products with large audiences appear.

A small, useful tool should have a real chance too.

About the Top 5 Featured Products

The Top 5 is designed to give products additional visibility and real discovery opportunities.

It is not intended to simply reward the products with the biggest existing audience.

We are also experimenting with a daily Lucky Member system where members can participate through genuine activity on the platform. The selected members can have their products featured in the Top 5, giving smaller products a chance to receive additional exposure.

The goal is simple:

Give products a chance to be discovered by real people — not just by the biggest existing audience.

What about Premium?

This is something I initially didn’t even want to add.

But after hearing from builders that having an optional premium system can make a platform feel more established and can provide additional promotional opportunities, I decided to keep the option available.

However, I’m currently not actively running paid Premium placements.

LaunchNest LN is still primarily focused on free product launches and free discovery.

If I eventually activate Premium, I want it to be useful and transparent — not a system where paying automatically means your product is better or deserves to outrank everyone else.

I’m also still figuring out what the best Premium model would be, especially one that works well for builders from countries where international payment systems can be difficult to access.

If you have experience designing a fair Premium/featured system for a product discovery platform, I’d genuinely appreciate your ideas.

What I’m trying to solve

The biggest problem isn’t getting founders to submit products.

The harder problem is getting real users to discover and actually try those products.

That’s the direction I want LaunchNest LN to keep moving toward.

Less focus on vanity metrics.

More focus on:

• Product quality
• Relevance
• Genuine engagement
• Real discovery
• Useful products
• Fair opportunities for smaller builders

I know the system will need to evolve as LaunchNest grows.

That’s why feedback like yours is valuable.

I’m not trying to build another platform where the biggest account automatically wins.

I’m trying to build a place where a genuinely useful product — even if it comes from a small or completely unknown founder — still has a chance to be discovered.

If you were designing the ranking and discovery system for LaunchNest LN, what would you prioritize?

Quality? Relevance? Real user activity? Product usage? Something else?

I’d love to hear how you would build it.
