I am bootstrapping https://skilledup.life as long as I can, definitely up to £10k MRR. Currently with 14 tech startup customers (from one person band to many) with £393 MRR (pathetic I know).

I also built SkilledUp Life to help other bootstrappers like myself. Can't wait to get to a point where everyone understands the value proposition. We should have 1000s of tech startup customers by now, but hey, who said we need to be an overnight sensation! Hopefully, the hard work will start paying off sooner than later.

I don't see it as necessarily one or the other. It makes sense to start with bootstrapping and opt to seek funding once you've developed the product to such an extent that attracting investors is easier - especially once you've got sales rolling in. VC makes sense once you're thinking about scaling.

I agree with this. Especially because the market when you started the business won't remain the same forever. Once the number of competitors increases and you have to adapt your product to answer to changes in consumer behavior, having not only the funds but the support/advice to help you do so is super valuable.

Like the article says, “If you want to get rich, you should bootstrap, and if you want to disrupt a market, you should raise venture capital." It has a lot to do with how much free reign you want, but it's likely going to be a trade-off with the impact you can have.

I don't think you need to be venture-backed to be disruptive. Let's see how far we can get to https://skilledup.life - free talent for tech startups.
