Why people scam a lot with NFT giveaways?

A year ago I started to flip NFTs and I realised that on twitter there are many people who lie and say they have a Bored Ape and there are many people who trust that these giveaways are true, some are smarter and create giveaways of less valuable NFTs but they don't really own them as well.

These people are just looking to generate engagement, gain followers and not give anything away.
