Why TikTok Live Studio still makes TTS donations harder than they should be

I ran into a surprisingly specific problem while streaming with TikTok Live Studio.

I wanted viewers to be able to send a tip and have their message read out loud in real time using text-to-speech. Not as an overlay gimmick, but as a natural part of the stream — similar to how donation alerts work on other platforms.

What surprised me was how little documentation or clean workflows exist for this when you’re not using OBS.

Most guides I found were either:

  • OBS-only

  • outdated

  • or required complex local setups that felt unnecessary for such a simple interaction

TikTok Live Studio itself doesn’t offer any native solution for this, so I ended up building a small browser-based workflow for my own streams that:

  • works directly with TikTok Live Studio

  • plays TTS audio live

  • keeps setup minimal

I didn’t initially plan to turn this into a product — it started as a way to scratch my own itch. But after talking to a few other creators who had run into the same limitation, it became clear this wasn’t a niche problem.

I’m still exploring what “good” viewer interaction should look like in live streams when the platform doesn’t provide native tools.

Curious how others here are handling TTS, voice alerts, or viewer messages in TikTok Live Studio today.
Are you routing everything through OBS, or have you found cleaner approaches?
